In the past, video games were not violent. Now, they are full or violence.

The differences posted here are obvious. "Super Mario World" is rather peaceful and non-violent, while "Call of Duty 4," is violent and graphic. An important change here is obvious. Video games are getting more violent each year.
Video games are a way of learning in every and any game you could find ways it teaches you and is educational. All games improve your visual and cordination skills. As wells as reading and following rules.Video games enhance these skills better then the schools, They actually grab are attention the way schools cannot. People blame the violence and distruction on video games all the time, its not the vieo games its more on how the children are raised and what they are tought to beleive. it just depends on the way they think, every human has a balance of cruelity and kindness inside them it just depends on the person on what will take up more room. Cruelity or Kindness? It's not video games that make up our minds for us, we do, we make up our minds for ourselves.Video games are more education then the causing violence.
Proir to recent years the vast majority of video games relied on buttons and D-pads but in todays video game world systems such as the wii have changed all that.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii
This has taken the video game world to a different level of user interactivity, and eventually en fully interactive video games.
Video games are deviating from the basic idea that they are meant for amusement and entertainment. Sega has recently uncovered a game called Project Beauty, which allows a person to upload a photo and offers make-over advice.
"Virtual Image Consultants - Nintendo DS Project Beauty." TREND HUNTER - #1 in Trends - The world's MOST updated, LARGEST collection of CUTTING EDGE ideas. 13 Oct. 2008 http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-ds-personal-beauty-consultant-nintendo-project-beauty.
Macarthy, Andrew. "Nintendic » Project Beauty uncovered for Nintendo DS." Nintendic. 13 Oct. 2008 http://www.nintendic.com/news/2848
The pictures may look cute and the concept harmless, but one could argue that such games are establishing a norm or definition for beauty. On the other hand, for those who actually want to learn about make-up and how to use it then this could be a useful tool by giving one a digital model to experiment with. So far the game is set to be released in Japan. I wonder if it will have a western release and the impact it may have?
Video games are no longer limited to just one or two players. With the advancement of console technology, the ability to to play with 3 or more players in person or connecting with others virtually has expanded. Thus enabling people to be more social while playing.
Paulson, Amanda, and Rich Clabaugh.. "'Loner' image out: For teens, video games often social. (Cover story)." Christian Science Monitor 100.206 (17 Sep. 2008): 1-11.
It is amazing the see how much social interaction occurs with those playing video games these days. I mean once it was mostly considered a loner's thing, but not so much now. My brother used to have system links, where eight plus kids would stay the night and play video games. They typically needed two separate T.V.s and systems, one group of kids would be in one room the other would be in another and they would play against each other. I have also talked to old coworkers who keep in contact via Super Smash Bros. on the Wii.
Video games are now more graphic with better visual effects than in the past. Final Fantasy X - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia." Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. 13 Oct. 2008 www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_X>.
Lego Batman: The Video Game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia." Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. 13 Oct. 2008 www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lego_Batman:_The_Video_Game>.
The differences in the past video games are very evident. In the past, the video games were very basic without many visual effects at all. Now, because of our technology, video games are very graphic with excellent features shown on the game. You can see more detailed graphics which was never before shown in the past. A current trend is that video games are becoming more graphic with more technology and better visuals.
Video games are now online. Literally every major console out today has some sort of online media. Xbox live, which is the online source for xbox online users now currently has over 12 million subscribers. The online media ranges from playing multiplayer, to downloading songs and movies on the system hard drive. I belive that the Xbox live is the future of online media because they have created the most diverse media of online video games by far compared to the WII and the PS3. One could add updates to their games if they do not have access to the necessary downloads, and even trade around profiles, game formats, and videos. I think that soon it will be just like wireless internet, being able to browse whatever you would like, and to check email as you please. Xbox live has voice and video chat along with a messaging system.
Along with my current post of online gaming, I believe the future of gaming has to do with massive multiplayer games online. The best and most popular example of this would be World of Warcraft. This game currently has about 11 million users per month. This game hold the world record for most people actively playing ever. The online games actually are the campain of the games. What you would call single player in other games. While you are playing your game completing your quests, you can challenge or can be challenged by other players to duels. Some people are so addicted to this games they play 24hours a day. People believe that this is some sort of social networking, and that even marrages have even occured from meeting during online game play.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Warcraft
I think that this is cool in the fact that so many people play online, and that there are so many realistic features in the gameplay. I do not think the addiction is normal, or that it is a good idea for people to spend a good amount of their day in front a either a TV screen or computer screen. I think that the next games will be massive online multiplayer games because they involve alot of communication between online friends and that there is constant variation in gametypes. Also the game is never the same two days in a row so a gamer does not get board of repititious games.
In recent days there has been more and more movies that are based on video games. Produces like what they see in the video games and want to bring it out to the big screen. Featuring famous movie stars to play the roles that you control in the video game.

I think making video games into a movie is a great idea. It already has a van base from the video game, which would draw more to see the movie.
With the video game Rock Band, one can play the guitar, drums or vocals. This is a new break through with making instrumentals into video game controllers. It allows one to play with 4 friends all together or online, playing your favorite rock songs.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_Band_2 This page was last modified on 14 October 2008, at 13:37.
I think this is a new and inventive way to play video games and also mix it with the music industry. I think in the future there will be even more instruments that go along with the songs.
~ Video games have been made more convenient for gamers thanks to portable video games. In the past they didnt have portable video games but now they do. About ten years ago or so Gameboy came out and ever since they have been advancing gamboys. We also have the choice of PSP(PlayStation Portable) and nitendo DS, and other not so popular portable videogames such as Digi pets, and Tamagotchi. Dig pets is a small portable game that is a little bigger then a quarter, The purpose of it is to take care of a virtual pet, and teach it new tricks untill it finally is full grown. Educational portable games have become semi-popular especially with the average "soccer mom".These "soccer moms" bring Leapfrog into there house to teach and offer educational fun to their children. Leapfrog is a portable video game but it comes in a virtual video game style and it is in a book style like game. The newest virtual console leapfrog game is the Diji.It teaches the young on basic education such as English, math, and science.
The more advanced portable video games such as PSP has come such a long way from the television videogames. PSP also offers movies, pitures and music to be stored on it through internet connection. The newest PSP 3000 has a more advanced 3D graphics then most portable games, it also has a microphone. It has better quality images lighting and sound then PSP 2000. PSP 3000 Was just recently released to the public. more about it at.. http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=mAW-EqLMfhI
More about LeapFrog Diji http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=90dYj2iZtcs

Portable gaming consoles are more convenient and fun to play. weather your on the subway or in the air you can bring it with you. This is also good for those adicted gamers they dont have to leave home without it. As these games advance there are for more then just playing but also for storage. you can store movies music and pictures. they are becoming more computer like. They are easy, time managable, and enjoyable.
since video games have been getting so violent lately it seems as though companys are trying to create systems for the whole family to partake in. the wii and xbox360 arcade have been going in that direction. they are trying to create video games that arent narrowed down to one specific demographic. games such as call of duty 4, grand theft auto, and saints row 2 are all games that are not ment to be in the hands of a child or even some teenagers for that matter. systems and games such as wii and xbox 360 arcade are systems that are for all ages all the time.
i think games and systems like these are going to become more popular becasue it is ment for all ages to play and be interested in. you see now that systems like the wii are owned by people of all ages and personally i havent met anyone that says that the wii is not fun or that it is childish. so people of all ages can be entertained by these systems and games and the violence part is not an issue.
In the past years video games have changed dramatically. There was a time when video games were once very simple without many graphics. There was also a time when video games were not very violent. Now, video games have become very graphic and violent as well. A while ago video games that were popular were ones such as Batman Lego Version and others. Now, we have graduated to games with incredible technology and graphics such as Final Fantasy X and others. These games have become so graphic and realistic in sight. They are so different than ever before. I think that video games will continue to become more and more graphic. Soon we will be able to see even the slightest movement made by the characters in the game. However, with this great technology comes a bigger problem: Games have become more violent. They have taken a liking to war and blood. Possibly a result of our war and our changes in movies, which have become even bloodier. There are games such as Call of Duty, which have shown people getting violently shot. I think that this is very wrong and unethical. However, I also think that this will not change. I believe that video games will continue to be bloody and violent, possibly even more than they are now. This is not a good thing, however, it sells. Based on my belief, I think that people enjoy playing video games that are bloodier because it is more intense. Maybe these people enjoy the satisfaction of causing the enemy that they are playing against, pain. This is a very dangerous thing for players to view as it may cause more violence in our world. However, my guess is that these games will become even more violent. Our games have become more graphic and violent and I don’t think that this will change ; rather, I think that it will increase. Video games are a rising entertainment that has been around for over 35 years. In the past one would have to travel to malls toward the video arcade to be entertained and play these video games. And even traveling to the arcade, it still costs money and the games were very simple and easy to play. Now in the current age the video game varieties are endless. Instead of going to the mall one can play in the comfort of their own home. Councils have evolved into a single player games into multiple players at once. They have also evolved into physical activates. For example Nintendo Wii. It allows the player to use the controller and the motion of it to control the game they are playing. They even have a fitness game out, called the Wii fit. This game challenges the player to do fitness exercises that the player has to use their body on a balance board measures a user's weight and center of gravity. With new ideas such as the Wii the future can hold anything. The future entails the Internet. With the Internet players can connect online and play many players across the world. For example the worlds biggest online game World of Warcraft. Now the game has over “11 million players online.” This allows players to play with other that don't have to be in the mall arcade, but in there households. Yet still playing other players thousands of miles away.

The Nintendo DS (ニンテンドーDS, Nintendō Dīesu?, sometimes abbreviated to DS or NDS) is a dual-screen handheld game console developed and manufactured by Nintendo. It was released in 2004 in Canada, the United States, and Japan. The console features a clamshell design, similar to the Game Boy Advance SP, with two LCD screens inside - with the bottom one being a touchscreen. The Nintendo DS also features a built-in microphone and supports wireless IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) standards,[5] allowing players to interact with each other within short range (10–30 m, depending on conditions) or online with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service, which launched later in the console's lifespan. This was the first Nintendo console to be released in North America prior to Japan.
not only is it out but these new innovative way of playing games has not only violent games but it has games in wich you can learn so its actually a great way to fulfill both sides of the brain lol.
I looked up new technology in video games on google and this is what I found first. I could not believe my eyes that video games could actually help stroke victims. This was the last thing that I would expect, but as I read deeper into the artical it made sense. This is a virtual reality video game that helps vitims increase their range of motion by simulating certain movements. I think something that is similar to this is the Nintendo Wii. I found this very interesting and now think that video games could be the future for all kinds of things. If they can help stroke victims they could probably be used for increasing education in the mentally disabled. This is a great discovery, and will probably be used in many studies now, and for helping many different people.
I have began to notice on TV advertisments for video games that promise to increase your iq. I find it interesting that these games are making money because I do not know where people get the idea to want to do puzzles and such to increase your iq. I think that this area of video game media is unchallenged because there are very few games out there that target this audiance. There is a video game available for ipods called brain challenge which targets this audiance, and some out for Nintendo DS. These games seem good for warming up ones brain in the morning to prepare for a test, or even just to increase mental awareness.
Over the past few years, video game consoles have began integrating aspects of social networking. On November 19, the xBox360 is going to expand on that concept even more.

This is a great direction for video games to move in. Video games are all about interacting with your friends and playing games with others and the new xbox experience really pushes the envelope in this respect. Gamers can now join "parties" with their friends and partake in picture and video sharing, chats, and playing games together all from the comfort of their own couch.
Video games have come a long way since the first game was introduced in 1947. They’ve gone from being a simple game of “Pong” between two players to competitions of 30-player teams and massively multiplayer online games. Pong was a game developed by Atari and released in arcades in 1972 with a home console version being released in 1975. Pong’s success was followed by many copy-cat versions of the game and eventually led to the creation of the video game industry. Up until the late 1990’s, video game arcades were the social central for everyone who played games. Games were not available for online play until just recently. But once developers found out what could be done with the power of the internet and home video game console, everything changed. Gamers eventually abandoned arcades after finding that the same kind of interactions found there could be done from the comfort of their couches. Games like Everquest and World of Warcraft have pushed the boundaries of massively multiplier games on the PC and Xbox Live, released in 2002, has done the same with home consoles. The way in which video games are experience is not the only thing that’s changed though. Xbox has received the nickname of the “Shooter Box” because of its frequent releases of first-person shooter video games which tend to be extremely. This is a major difference from earlier video games. Games have come from fairly family-friendly and non-violent structures to games like Call of Duty 4 and Dead Space which depict extreme violence not suitable for younger audiences. Although the Xbox 360 has gone down a more mature route, there is also the Nintendo Wii which is being marketed more as a fitness machine than an actual video game console. There are games like Wii Fit and Wii Sports which actually require a physical workout and is suitable for the entire family. In the coming years it seems that the video game industry is going to see what can be to further the online aspect of video games and put as much social interaction into their consoles as possible.
Video games are a very popular media trend for the younger teen population and can very well extend into the older generations as well. In the past, video games were determined on how family friendly they were. In the past, games such as Super Mario, Duck Hunt and relatively minor offensive games. Also in the past, the graphics of video games were very poor. The creators must have thought that it was just a fast way to make money on the technology that they could use. Today, video games have evolved tremendously. Gone are the restrictions on non-violent gaming. It seems that in today’s world there is a little emphasis on family friendly games that were popular when video games first started out. Although, with the Wii it seems that non-violent gaming is trying to make a comeback. Today, video games have a rating system so you are able to tell which video games you think you would like or what would be appropriate. Also due to the advancement of video games we have seen the advancement of graphics. In the games that are being released there seems to be more realism in the game, which is a good selling point to potential buyers. The future of video gaming may not be completely visible to anybody but then again the future has always gotten brighter.
Back in the day video games consisted of a joystick and maybe two buttons to play with. There were only limited varities of games and not alot of educational games to be played for the youth. Back then video games wasn't a household object and was rare you can say to play them. Now in the present you can find some sort of video game in every house around America. Video games are now taking over our youth and adults, there are so many different types of video games now that you can choose one that matches you. In the past couple of years alone has been a big hit in the video game industry with the Wii, PS3, and the XBOX360 comin out. The Wii is different from the others because the game consists of the player doing all the movement with just the control in their hand. The games now in the present are more violent then ever and express alot of diffent things than what the games in the past did. If you go on the internet as well there are varities of games you can play for all ages. There are also portable games such as gameboy's which has died down recently, but a new and hot device is the PSP. In the future there will be alot less wires needed, the wireless controlers will reach as far as you need them too. Games will only become more graphic in the future because in America thats what sells, sport games will remain and you will see alot more upgrades being made in video games such as high def.
With the advancement in video game technology, the function of video games has shifted beyond entertainment. In the past video games were limited to being in arcades, which were found in shopping malls and small corner arcades in restaurants, movie theaters, and grocery stores (Wikipedia – Arcades). At that time video games were used for entertainment. They were a thing to do when one was bored and it was inexpensive for the most part. It was also more of a solitary form of entertainment as well, though some games were designed for two to four players. With the introduction of video games into the home via consoles, video games were still a means of entertainment. Most console systems were limited to one or two players. There are many generations for the consol, each one topping the previous in memory storage and polygon generation. However, I think the sixth generation (which includes the Xbox, GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Dreamcast) is where we see the foundation of change that has altered the function of video games. The GameCube and Xbox introduced games that could involve up to four players. However, the Xbox could go beyond that with its networking capabilities using Xbox Live. Currently games are still used as a means of entertainment, but their function has expanded with the seventh generation of consol systems. Playing video games has become a way of socially interacting with people in the same room or networking with people via online capabilities of the Xbox 360. It is not so much a one person thing now. Now there are more games that incorporate multiplayer abilities than before. Video games are also being used to promote health and knowledge, for instance the Wii Fit and Brain Age for the Nintendo DS. There are also games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero that promote music and playing instruments. I think video games are going to continue to be involved in different aspects of our lives. As mentioned in the blog, there are games that are coming out that will give beauty and make-up advice. There is even one that will help with driver’s ed. training. So what will be next? Maybe there will ‘how to’ games that teach us how to build or make things or maybe people can gain a college education through a series of games. The sky is the limit with video games.

Video Games have made a great improvement since they first came out. They have also become more and more popular among the young adult and adult males who play them the most. Because of their popularity, different new systems are coming out to new users. Past systems were like the N64, where they were simple and easy to use, and the amount of players were limited. The N64’s also had little violence. In Mario World there were still violence of Mario killing another player, but the violence was not graphic or extreme like they are now. The older video game systems also had less graphics and were low quality compared to games that are played now. Present popular game systems are the Wii, X-box and GameCube. Users are becoming more interested in these systems because they allow a player to do so much more. There are more buttons to push, the graphics are better and you can play with more people. Newer games are a lot more difficult which makes the player want more because it is a challenge. Also, You can even play with more players because the game systems allow more controllers or they are hooked to the internet, so it’s almost like a hobby a group of friends can play together. Another big reason new game systems have become more popular is because the graphics are more realistic. They are 3D and life like, and contain a lot more action then past games. Players like seeing more realistic games because it makes them feel like they are really there and it makes the game more interesting. Future “next big” video game systems I can see are something along the lines of the Wii but even better. The Wii has become the most popular game system since it came out, so what can make it better? I think with more games and more ways of interacting with the system will bring it more popularity. I think that someday there might even be a way to have a video game system become a room/wall in your house. Perhaps a whole wall will someday become a screen to a game you are playing, and then just like the Wii, you will interact in the room to the game and it will happen on the screen. It would be like the Wii, but a bigger screen to make players feel like they are even more in the game. I could see something like that happening because it sounds like something that would interest players.
Jerhi said... Video games have changed dramatically! Video games went from Pack Man to Grand Theft Auto. These days the video games have gotten very violent and explicit. It shows young kids that violence is normal and their minds are still developing so it can really effect our future and what is going to go on in our world years from now. Games these days you hear characters using foul language, killing, doing drugs, and ladies dressing up in skimpy clothes. That is what our world has came to. Then there is another way you can look at video games in a good perspective. It teaches you how to always finish something you start, and to not give up. It has been told people who play video games a lot have better hand-eye-coordination, and become more educated with strategies and missions they have to accomplish. Video games have got way more advanced since I have been a kid when the regular Nintendo was out. The graphics are a lot better with great quality. Video games are starting to look like live TV and movies, that’s how much video games have advanced since I was just a little kid. I remember when there was only video games where you could have only one player playing now you could have tons of people playing at once, and now that they have online playing world wide, you can play with people across the world and you can play with your friends rather they are at their house or right there with you.
Since video games have been getting so violent lately it seems as though companies are trying to create systems for the whole family to partake in. Nintendo Wii and Xbox360 arcade have been going in that direction. They are trying to create video games that aren’t narrowed down to one specific demographic. Games such as call of duty 4, grand theft auto, and saint’s row 2 are all games that are not meant to be in the hands of a child or even some teenagers for that matter. In the past video games were not as violent as they are now but they were slowly progressing towards the violent stage. Systems and games such as Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 arcade are systems that are for all ages all the time. “Nintendo states that its console targets a broader demographic than that of both Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3 (www.wikipedia.org).” I think games and systems like these are going to become more popular because it is meant for all ages to play and be interested in. “With the announcement of the Xbox 360 Arcade version of the console this week, there has been some noise about how Microsoft is going after Nintendo's 'family' market. While I do think the family market is worth going after, I find it amazing how many people seem to have no understanding as to what the family market is (vgbm.blogspot.com).” You see now that systems like the Nintendo Wii are owned by people of all ages and personally I haven’t met anyone that says that the Nintendo Wii is not fun or that it is childish. So people of all ages can be entertained by these systems and games and the violence part is not an issue.
What are the past and current trends in the video games industry? Video games have came a long way from when they first began. Like i have the Atari which is the first video game syster that came out. as Jin Tsubota says games back then wasnt did really come with violence. Like games to the Atari, Super nintendo, Sega didnt really have that many game that have alot of violence in it. even though they came out with game such a duck hunt in which you had a gun and you would try and shoot the ducks that flew by, parents was still okay with letting there kids play with it. Nowadays we have the updated video games such as the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and the Playstaion 3. they have alost everything better about them than the systems from back in the days, because they have better graphics, better memory they come with hardrives and they are internet capable. but nowadays unlike back in the days i dont think parents will agree with their kids playing some of the games because of all the violence that comes with it. the games of today show no mercy for little kids they like show heads getting chopped and blown off show people getting shot up. some games are really crazy and its not showing no signs of stopping. i think that in the future the games will keep on improving, i think that they will even be wireless like complete wireless. like no cables to connect to the t.v no plugs or anything, and they will be smaller.
BENYAM F. BEREKET JIN TSUBOTA INTRO TO MEDIA NOVEMBER 2, 2008 TTH 2PM-3:15PM TRENDS OF THE NEWS INDUSTRY Before the internet or cell phones or even television, news was printed on paper and if you wanted to know what was going on you would go out and buy a news paper, but now news has became more and more convenient to us. Today’s society is living with a more faster “I need it now”, philosophy. People don’t want quality they just want the information no opinions or other peoples ideas, juts who, what, when, where, and why. don’t get me wrong I like not getting up not going to the store to buy a news paper. If I want the news I just go onto my phone or my computer and get on the internet and hit Google and type in anything I want to know about, or missed, while I was sleeping. I don’t think that news will ever cease because we need news, we need to know what is going on in the world. But I think the way it will be presented and viewed will change dramatically over the next couple of years. Because as I said before the way it started before and how its changed have made it so we should know that television will stop, and newspapers will stop, the only thing that’s old that most likely in my opinion wont stop is radio’s, because think about it what do you do every time you get into your car either listen to music or listen to the radio for traffic reports, on games, or on news in general. I think news will become different over the next few years. BENYAM F. BEREKET JIN TSUBOTA INTRO TO MEDIA NOVEMBER 2, 2008 TTH 2PM-3:15PM
Video games have been around for about thirty years. The games began as quiet games with little to no controversy such as pong, and dungeons n dragons. Also Pac Man came out. These games had a short plot with a quick to the point objective; eat the apples, hit the ball back and forth, save the princess. Today the current trends are not as simple for the game quality, and genre demand are constantly being altered. Violence is a must, as well as excellent graphics. The audience loves gore, guns, and swords. The hero must be the ideal man with muscles, agility, and power. Gamers want quick reactions, online game play, and change as their game develops. The game must not just be a simple quest, but instead a battle for players to be the best among their friends. I believe that the future of video game media all lies within the online game play. The online experience is huge because one is able to download new quests, new maps, and battle with friends to be the best. Rank is huge within gaming society because the gamers want to be better than those around them to ‘trash talk’. I believe that the system, and games that put together the best way for players to compete while having fun amongst themselves will be a money maker. Halo 3 has sold millions of games because of the amount of people who want to make it to level 50. Only a small percent ever will. People are so desperate that they will pay others to make them a level 45 which is sad. Video games are huge market with millions to be made.
Video games have grown quiet a bit in the last few decades: first you have huge arcade games that you only would see the 70's arcade rooms, and pizza diners. The games then seemed pretty entertaining but when you compare them to are current video games they are lame, dull , and they were not creative. They were slow and simple. then in the 80's America welcomed video games into there living rooms such as Sega, it connects straight to your television. The color graphics were flimsy and slow but they got more creative with there story lines, and entertaining. in the 90's they started advancing video games in your living room with Sega Genesis, Dream cast, Nintendo 64 and Playstaion. These games are a lot more graphical and colorful. they are also a lot more dramatic, and entertaining. In the 90's portable;e games started to developed with the Gameboy and Gameboy color. These portable games now offered a convenient way to play and travel why you play. Now little Timmies across the globe can play while forced on those family road trips. the games had bad color and bad graphics. they were also very slow. Currently we have Playstations 2 and 3, X-box, X-box 360, and the Wii. these games are all very graphic colorful and realistic. They are more entertaining, dramatic and exciting. The story lines have increased in complications and have become more adventurous. The current portable video games are PSP, Gameboy advanced and Nintendo ds. They are more realistic and have amazing graphics and color. They are more intense and creative. Most of the current games can connect to the Internet as well so you can play multiple players online. Futuristic games will be virtual and 3D. so you can actually be in the game.
In the past, video games have been played solely in arcades. But then video games have been made into console systems that you play at home. The first video game console was released in 1972. It was called the Magnavox Odyssey. After that, video game systems like Atari 2600, Coleco Vision, and the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) have been released. The next big thing to happen to video games would be handheld, portable video game systems in the 1970s, but didn’t gain much positive reception until the 1980s, when Nintendo released their new handheld system, the Nintendo Game Boy. Today’s consoles are revolutionizing in the video game industry. The Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 have allowed gamers to play other gamers over the Internet. And the Nintendo Wii has been expanding the video game audience through its innovative Wii remote controllers. Today’s handheld video game systems, like Sony’s PlayStation Portable and Nintendo Dual Screen (DS) are also very popular. This is one industry that is thriving and will continue to be for a long while. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for video games in the future. I think the next big break in the video game industry will be virtual reality gaming systems. There are already arcade games with that concept, so why not expand it and bring it to gamers’ homes. And since gaming has found its way into music, exercise, and other industries, it’d be safe to say that they’ll find their way into more, like maybe marketing, law, or other similar industries.

Bowen Wiest

With the video game Rock Band, one can play the guitar, drums or vocals. This is a new break through with making instrumentals into video game controllers. It allows one to play with 4 friends all together or online, playing your favorite rock songs.

They are easy, time managable, and enjoyable.

since video games have been getting so violent lately it seems as though companys are trying to create systems for the whole family to partake in. the wii and xbox360 arcade have been going in that direction. they are trying to create video games that arent narrowed down to one specific demographic. games such as call of duty 4, grand theft auto, and saints row 2 are all games that are not ment to be in the hands of a child or even some teenagers for that matter. systems and games such as wii and xbox 360 arcade are systems that are for all ages all the time.
http://vgbm.blogspot.com/2007/10/you-know-for-kids.html 10/24/08
i think games and systems like these are going to become more popular becasue it is ment for all ages to play and be interested in. you see now that systems like the wii are owned by people of all ages and personally i havent met anyone that says that the wii is not fun or that it is childish. so people of all ages can be entertained by these systems and games and the violence part is not an issue.

Video Games

TRENDS OF THE NEWS INDUSTRY
Before the internet or cell phones or even television, news was printed on paper and if you wanted to know what was going on you would go out and buy a news paper, but now news has became more and more convenient to us.

Video Games
