Commercials for the phones are really big.

"Feist-Verizon Wireless Commercial." www.youtube.com. 8 Oct. 2008 www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQnsaDCxsZk>.

In my opinion, I think this is a huge trend. There are many phone companies that advertise their phones by commericals. It is a huge trend. I think this trend is different in the past than now. Our commercias now are linked to a younger more "hip" audience rather than the older audience. This can be a change as well.

NEW YORK — The first phone that harnesses Google Inc.'s ambition to make the Internet easy to use on the go was revealed Tuesday, and it looks a lot like an iPhone.

T-Mobile USA showed off the G1, a phone that, like Apple Inc.'s iPhone, has a large touch screen. But it also packs a trackball, a slide-out keyboard and easy access to Google's e-mail and mapping programs.

T-Mobile said it will begin selling the G1 for $179 with a two-year contract. The device hits U.S. stores Oct. 22 and heads to Britain in November and other European countries early next year
this new phone marks a new generation of the way we contact
people and run our everyday lives, in my opinion the new g1 will be the phone to take us into the future. with its google maps with street view easir one touch google search and its touch screen with a keypad makes it a great competitor for the apple iphone.

If you our on the road, in a new area, camping or what have you and need to check something online, pull your phone out of your pocket and walla! Accses to the internet is at your fingertips. I think this technology will strengthen and soon cell phones wont be used for just talking, and texting, but it will be a phone, a computer, a TV, a Music player, and a way to play video games. I know what your thinking my phone already does all that I mean all that and more and extremly enhanced. Right now it's slow and not that reliable. Your phone is not equipted with enough energy to get you what you want when you want. They also can't provide the whole wedsite, certian things our cut out because the phone is not able to hold all that info.

Pagers were a common device used in the late 80's early 90's.

Pager - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia." Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. 16 Oct. 2008
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pager

Personally, I never really understood pagers. I thought it was cool that you can contact someone if they were out, but an answering machine on your house phone could almost do the same job. I think once cell phone creators saw that these were becoming less popular, that's what inspired them to make a mobile telephone for people, that way people can just call a person who is out rather than having a number show up on a screen.

Motorola's DynaTAC was the first mobile phone to be approved by the FFC in the United States in 1983.

"Motorola DynaTAC - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia." Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. 10 Oct. 2008. 19 Oct. 2008 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorola_DynaTAC.

Cell phones have come a long way since 1983. They've gone from having hardly any other capabilities other than making phone calls to allowing users to access the internet, text message and record videos. The DynaTAC only had an hour of battery and took almost 10 hours to charge. Cell phones now last for days at a time and get fully charged in 2 hours.

Flip phones are the new "it" phone compared to regular simple cell phones.

"Cell Phones, Cell Phone Plans, Cell Phone Accessories - Verizon Wireless." Cell Phones, Cell Phone Plans, Cell Phone Accessories - Verizon Wireless. 21 Oct. 2008 www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/index.html>.

Flip phones have become a big trend for the mobile industry. They are the new hot phone out there. They also look better than the standardized phone that was out there in the past.
I think this will be a continuous trend.

Texting is the new and improved way of communication.

"Text messaging - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia." Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. 21 Oct. 2008 www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texting>.

Texting is the new way to communicate. It is so great because you can do it privately without the hassle of having someone listening to your conversation, i.e.: in a classroom. It is also great because you can do it when you drive as well. It is better to text than to communicate by phone as done in the past.
I see using texting as a great concept for the future as well.

In the past, mobile devices such as cell phones were very simple without much flair to their design. They were very ordinary with a simple look to them. The cell phones in the past just served to make phone calls. These phones didn’t have much of a look or a personality to them. Now, because of flip phones, they have a new kick to them. They are more attractive, which in turn, has people buying them more. This has become a current and new trend that throws the old one in the past. Now, flip phones and razors are the hot new thing. In my opinion, this isn’t going to change. I think flip phones are here to stay. My prediction is that they will become even smaller or have a new look to them based on what I am seeing now.
Another trend that I am seeing is the new world of texting. In the past, texting wasn’t popular nor was it even well known. It was used in 1995 mainly for people that were deaf or had other disabilities. According to Wikipedia, it wasn’t very well known to many people. However, it is now very well known and used by many people. It is very convenient for people who are on the go and don’t have time to talk to others with speaking. It is also great for meetings or school when it needs to be done stealthily.
I think that this trend will not leave. It is very much the next big thing because it is so convenient.

Yet again another invention that high techs our cell phones even more.Have you ever heard of QR code scarf or barcode file transfer? Guess not but don't worry most people haven't at least most people in the U.S. Barcodes are well known in Japan , London, Zurich.

The point of these Qr codes is that these 2-Dimensional Barcodes can hold over 2000 bytes in each square. The barcode holds special messages, music, advertisment, any thing that can be found on the interent.

You can use this Qr code by taking a picture (with your high tech cell phone) of the code and sending it through to the internet by using the 2D-barcode software that decodes the barcode and sends you to the wedpage that can contain anything.

Magazines, newpapers, books, even tags on popular clothes use them for people to get more info about a product, free gifts, games, videos, ringtones, ect.

It's crazy to think how much info can be on a barcode, and how it links to the internet just be using your cell phone. Technology keeps growing more and more soon these barcodes might be on our wrists as a identity code or as a credit card.

Barcode fun is all thanks to are cell phone technology. with out are cell phones we wouldnt be able to use Qr 2D bracodes.

I think the QR 2D barcode will be big and beneficial for the world.Cell phone technology seems to be icreasing rapidly Just think on how people can use them for school, a new trendy fad, just for fun or even a subtraction for the morse code for the military. Qr codes are mind blowing of how technology has grown and also very exciting to have in my life time cell phone technology beyond just talking and texting on the phone, but a huge informational purpose to find the meanings of the messages in the barcodes.

Bluetooth is the next big trend .

"Bluetooth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia." Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. 27 Oct. 2008 www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth

There was never such a thing like Bluetooth. Never before has something been created that could help people still speak on the phone hands-free, without a screen. This invention is small and effective.
Bluetooth is so great because it is used so much with mobile devices. Talking on the phone when driving is now illegal. However, because of this problem, Bluetooth is a huge trend. My guess is that the Bluetooth will have bigger and better competition and a new product will soon come out.

Almost everyone has a cell phone. And a lot of people drink. LG has debited to put a breathalyzer on cell phones. It is already a big hit in Korea, and should be a big hit in the states. The company placed several models on the market in that country last year and already has sold more than 200,000 units.

I think this a new and inventive idea. It is a very safe idea also. This device could potentially save one from getting a DUI and even saving lives. Not everyone carries around a breathalyzer with them at all times, yet people do carry around cell phones. Putting the two together is a great idea and should sell well.

I think this a really good idea, not just because it is free, but with the technology of the i phone it will be very easy to touch and scroll through the world. It is very cool how one can use the phone to tip it over to move more horizontal, and the easy touch screen features to find your location.

Mobile Devices

Mobile Devices are a Invention of all inventions. It takes the old “home phone” and creates a phone that can be carried around anywhere one wants it to go. Some of these mobile devices can be dated back to pagers. This past trend of the “beeper, is a simple telecommunication device for short messages.” This idea was very simple, yet the device could not have viral communication like a phone could. This idea of sending messages without having to talk, merged into a new current trend. This current trend is text messaging. Texting is a huge trend that aging from teens to adults, very easy to do and allowing users to send short messages very fast. With is trend cell phone companies are designing new cell phones created around the fact they are great for texting. For example keyboard on cellphones. With new ideas coming out who knows what these companies will add to there cellphones. According to ABCnews.com, they say the new design for phones is a Breathalyzer. This future trend is a very popular idea, “In south Korea it has already sold more than 200,00 units.” With new ideas being invented, the future of mobile devices could be very innovative.

One of the most current trends for the mobile device industry that is increasing in technology is the video games being able to be played on phones. The apple phone is a great example because now you can upload the games from whereever you want but the games are very intense, and have extremely good graphics. The games used to be just like old rpg games, and were available on all phones. Now the industry is fighting for rights over games, and fighting for who has the best games available. Literally every provider now has games available because they are a true money maker. I know that I have bought and subscribed to many games before just to play them in class. They are fun and help the time pass by. I recently just bought tetris on my phone. Also more than just the providers are selling games to phone owners, but all kinds of outside entertainment providers, giving users a much wider option of what type of games they would like to have. Also now one could even play their games on their apple iphone on the televistion which basically makes it a gaming console. This is a ground breaking invention because something that used to be as simple as a phone now can even be a gaming console.

Phones now have many different bluetooth capabilities. One can transfer files, music, and all kinds of different things between phones as long as the lisense says that it is able to. The most common bluetooth is the ear piece on the phone especially in California because of the new driving law which makes it illeagle to drive without a headset or using a handsfree device. This also is probably the most incresing trend in the moblie device because of the law. I now see so many people with a ear piece in their ear talking to what seems themselves, with a blinking blue light which means that they are connected through bluetooth on the cell phone. I think that the bluetooth capabilities are one of the most important trends in the mobile device industry because it broadens the devices capabilities in so many ways, and leaves so much room for improvement because companies do not have to increase technology in the phone but instead the wireless device which is connected to the phone because mostly all phones have bluetooth in their phones stock.

Mobile devices are the trend in media that seems to grab everyone’s attention. They are the fastest way to get information on news, weather, movies, sports and just about any other interest you have. Mobile devices in the past had absolutely nothing to do with getting information fast. Mobile devices of the past were slow and very restricted. They were able to carry only a certain amount of valuable information and that information was not always helpful. Today though mobile devices have affected almost everyone around the world. People are able to call people, check their e-mail, surf the web, check sports scores, find out where a certain movie is playing and what time, and have contact with anyone via text messaging. Mobile devices have changed the way that people interact with the world today. There are many different kinds of media devices that are used today. Laptops, cell phones and iphones are largely responsible for the major boom in the mobile devices market. The future of mobile devices is very good. Constant advances are being made to give the user more information at their fingertips. More and more devices have become available for the users to customize which will help the future of mobile devices.

The FCC approved the first mobile phone, Motorola’s DynaTAC, in 1983. Although cell phones have been around since the early 80’s, they didn’t really catch on until the mid to late 90’s. In between the DynaTAC and today’s cell phones, pagers were extremely popular. Earlier cell phones are nowhere near what they are today. Older phones only had a few features that allowed users to make and receive calls, check voicemail, and store numbers. Eventually, cell phone companies introduced ringtones that sounded like popular songs and those finally turned into ringtones that actually were songs. Like ringtones, text messaging has come a long way since it was first introduced in the early 90’s. Today, text messages can contain 160+ characters per message and can also hold pictures, videos, and audio clips. With California’s new hands-free cell phone driving law, Bluetooth headsets are becoming extremely popular. Smart phones are the new trend for mobile devices today. Smart phones allow users to access the internet, check their email, update their MySpace profiles, take pictures and videos, hold hundreds of contacts and get turn-by-turn voice navigation with the use of GPS. Apple’s iPhone was the first cell phone to really capture a true representation of the internet. T-Mobile just recently partnered with Google to create competition for the iPhone called the T-Mobile G1. The G1 will supposedly have a better, faster, more efficient internet browser. Mobile devices seem to be holding more and more memory the smaller they get and with more capabilities than ever before.

Mobile Devices are very big right now. Everyone is always trying to get the best looking phone and latest one out. Back In the day cell Phones were very big, bulky, expensive, and didn’t even have color to them. They have very much changed now. Cell phones now have camera’s, chat programs, touch screens, internet, music player the list goes on and on. You can almost do anything from your cell phone now, even watch tv. Couple years ago cell phones couldn’t even really hold much information. Now not can you store hundreds of contacts on your phone and txt msgs you can also now add memory to your phone by purchasing memory cards. In the next 10 years I believe phones will be a lot smaller and skinnier. I also think that they will come out with a phone that is all voice recognition. With this you would never have to dial a number or anything, you can simply speak to your phone and tell it to do everything for your. Also I am thinking that they will come out with a way for the costumer to make his own phone by telling the company how to costumize the phone with buttons, colors, and features to the users need.

In the past you didn't see everybody with cell phones as you do know. There were only people who could really afford things who had cell phones and pagers. Pagers were big in the past and were kind of common. The cell phones back then were all very big and didnt have the best reception, there were'nt alot of options on them either such as games, texting, gps, and etc. Cell phones in the past were meant for calling only, in the past it was also more common to see men with phones. Now in the present they have tried everything they can to make a cell phone a top device. There are so many things you can do on a phone now that it is really all you need, there are phones which have internet, gps, aim, texting, youtube, and etc. Keyboards are becoming more and more common on the new phones coming out, so is touch screen phones as well. The I-phone was a big hit when it came out and they have already came out with a better upgraded version of the I-phone. T-mobile came out with their new device the G1 which you can do anything on it and is a top phone in the market right now. In the future there will be phones that talk back to you and voice recognition will be at its best in the future where you wont have to press anything on the phone and it all acts from your voice. The future phones will have better service wherever you are and that it will be impossible to lose service regardless of where you are.

In the past mobile devices were huge. The first cell phone looked to be the size of a regular portable home phone with a brick attached to it. Its original placement was in a car and the battery allowed for a call to last up to sixty minutes. Afterwards you had to place it on a charger that could take either an hour or ten hours to fully charge the phone. Most of these features seem unrealistic now, but they were the beginning of something big. Before cell phones became big, another device was popular for trying to contact someone called a pager. They were fairly small, but limited in their capabilities. For most of them a person could leave a number that the person they want to talk to can contact them at. I think some may have been able to receive a text message.
Taking from past devices, people wanted to be in touch with others while on the go. One of the main features of a mobile device is its size. It must be compact enough so that it is portable. With the cell phone becoming more compact in the mid-90s the pager faded out. With the cell phone there was no need to leave a call back number and wait for the person to call you back, instead you could just call the person’s cell phone when they are not home. Other features became standard as the phones evolved, including cameras address books, games, texting and voice mail.
One current trend is the smart phone. They are compact (though not to the same scale as some cell phones), and combine the features of a MP3 player, camera, and a cell phone into one devise. It has greater internet capabilities compared to the standard cell phone as well. This is also not including the features you can incorporate with applications which include GPS capabilities, games, music streaming, and there is so much more beyond this. So what is next? Smaller models of smart phones may start popping up. I think right now there is not much in the way of file sharing for some models, but I think there will be. File sharing is a great feature with computers, but just imagine if it expands to handheld devices.

Video games have changed dramatically! Video games went from Pack Man to Grand Theft Auto. These days the video games have gotten very violent and explicit. It shows young kids that violence is normal and their minds are still developing so it can really effect our future and what is going to go on in our world years from now. Games these days you hear characters using foul language, killing, doing drugs, and ladies dressing up in skimpy clothes. That is what our world has came to. Then there is another way you can look at video games in a good perspective. It teaches you how to always finish something you start, and to not give up. It has been told people who play video games a lot have better hand-eye-coordination, and become more educated with strategies and missions they have to accomplish. Video games have got way more advanced since I have been a kid when the regular Nintendo was out. The graphics are a lot better with great quality. Video games are starting to look like live TV and movies, that’s how much video games have advanced since I was just a little kid. I remember when there was only video games where you could have only one player playing now you could have tons of people playing at once, and now that they have online playing world wide, you can play with people across the world and you can play with your friends rather they are at their house or right there with you.

Remember when mobile devices use to be as big as a brick? Now they are thin and as small as can be. There is many phone companies now. Such as Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, Metro PCS and many others. Connection and quality of the phones these days have gotten more advanced also. Mobile devices these days can download music and play them with a good level volume also. They also have ear pieces almost like an earphone you use to listen to music but it can pick up your voice also so that you can talk to who you are contacting with your call. Now that it has became a law that you have to have an ear device to talk on the phone when your driving it made the ear pieces become a lot more popular than before there was that law. All of the phone service companies have so many commercials, but they can because they all make a lot of money and stay in business. Now that every company gives you a chance to get the programs where you can get directions to where you want to, which is called GPS (global positioning system), it made business go way up also, and a lot easier on people who travel or need to know how to get to certain places. Now that we even got GPS on our phones what is going to be next? Technology just keeps advancing and advancing, everything we do is just going to keep getting easier.

Mobile Devices are an object that almost everyone has because it is a way for people to get in contact with you. But is that enough? To have a phone that is only good for contact and not more?
Past mobile devices were beepers and simple cell phones. Beepers were the first thing that came out in the late 80’s, which allowed people to know a number that they needed to call. Once creators saw that beepers weren’t doing that great, cell phones came out and became more popular than ever. People could contact each other easier than beepers because it was a portable phone, rather than a device telling you a number to call once you got to a phone. The cell phone was a great creation, however now there are more to do on phones.
Present trends in the phone industry are that phones are becoming more advanced with new technologies they offer. Cell phones used to give a person the power to call or text anywhere, but now there are phones coming out like the Blackberry and the Iphone which allows the owner to do more. With those phones you can take pictures and send them, and download and listen to music anytime you want. They are “newer and cooler” and can do more stuff than a normal phone which makes everyone want them more and the demand for them higher.
As for future mobile devices, I’m not too sure what to expect since phones now can do almost anything. Perhaps there will be some type of phone that you can talk to and tell it what to do rather than type it in. If you want to call Bob you tell your phone “call Bob” rather then searching for contacts. Or, if you want to download a song, you tell it the artist and song and it searches and downloads automatically. I could see a phone like coming out and being somewhat beneficial to consumers.

The “Bluetooth” or hands free device has become a huge hit in the mobile device industry. Ever since July 1st 2008 the law has been that driving without a hand free device for your phone would be illegal. “Thanks to California Senate Bill 1613 signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2006, Californians will have to put down their cell phone while driving and become hands-free by July 1st 2008. The new law requires motorists to use a hands-free device when using a cell phone while driving (www.driving laws.org).” This has made the supply and demand of hands free devices go way up. It is a huge trend in the mobile industry now and is selling more than ever especially because of the new law. Now that the public is required to use one of these hands free devices while driving, new styles and new technology is being put into them and the industry is booming. “The numbers are in for Bluetooth headset sales in California, and the retail hype around the new hands-free-driving law seems to have paid off. The law boosted device sales to four times the national average, according to a report by retail market researcher The NPD Group (www.cnet.com).” Bluetooth in general even before the law came about was becoming very popular. To some people it became a fashion statement. I don’t see this trend going anywhere anytime soon and things will only get better with this new technology.

Video games have been around for about thirty years. The games began as quiet games with little to no controversy such as pong, and dungeons n dragons. Also Pac Man came out. These games had a short plot with a quick to the point objective; eat the apples, hit the ball back and forth, save the princess. Today the current trends are not as simple for the game quality, and genre demand are constantly being altered. Violence is a must, as well as excellent graphics. The audience loves gore, guns, and swords. The hero must be the ideal man with muscles, agility, and power. Gamers want quick reactions, online game play, and change as their game develops. The game must not just be a simple quest, but instead a battle for players to be the best among their friends. I believe that the future of video game media all lies within the online game play. The online experience is huge because one is able to download new quests, new maps, and battle with friends to be the best. Rank is huge within gaming society because the gamers want to be better than those around them to ‘trash talk’. I believe that the system, and games that put together the best way for players to compete while having fun amongst themselves will be a money maker. Halo 3 has sold millions of games because of the amount of people who want to make it to level 50. Only a small percent ever will. People are so desperate that they will pay others to make them a level 45 which is sad. Video games are huge market with millions to be made.

At first there was the pager, It would tell you if you had a message or missed call. The pager also called the beeper were like small computers that were very limited to small text, missed calls, and messages. You could save telephone numbers on your pagers depending on the type of pager you had and the memory on the pager. Looking back at the Pagers; they were dull limited and had small screens. It was a trendy to wear pagers on your belt, many men did. Pagers did not last very long they didn't survived the 90's they were hot in early 90's then they died out in the mid 90's, late 90's. Now currently we have Cell phones; which have alot of features. With cell phones you can call people, text, send different objects (pictures videos and ring tones, ect.) You can have video games and a day planner on your cell phones. Cell phones has so many features that help you through the day its amazing you can never be bored. You can check your e-mail, use the Internet, use the calculator and calendar. They are diverse and handy also quiet trendy. Cell phones are a great and convenient source to have. Though they can be slow and they lose signal in remote places, they also can't hold that much memory and they can't transfer huge amounts of data. The Internet on the phones is slow and had to use because the cell phones can't access all the Internet features. Cell phones has already survived longer then the pagers did and they will continue to grow. Future Mobile devices are high tech cell phones, Cell phones that are video to video transfers, and 3D images that are projected out of your phones and cell phones with breathalyzers.

Mobile devices is still somewhat of a new thing. It started out in the 1980s as very large, dangerous, and inconvenient cell phones. Not only that, they were only used for phone calls. Then, sometime in the 1990s, cell phones were made more compact and started to come out with features such as text messaging and ring tones. But computers have also been made into mobile devices. In the 1980s, the first laptop computer was released. It was a just a keyboard with a small screen on top that you type words into. But over the years laptop computers have been updated and been made to work like real computers.
Today cell phones are pretty much mini-computers. They have Internet capabilities, music software, video games, and their coming out with more and more features every time they release a new phone. The next new feature for phones will be a breathalyzer feature. It’s really amazing what phones can do nowadays. Laptops are also becoming more advanced. The new Apple laptop, the Apple Air, is so thin that in the commercial you see someone taking it out of an envelope. It’s really hard to believe that something so powerful could be so thin.
But what will be the next phone revolution. One word: videophone. There are already video chatting websites available, so it’s not so far out of reach that we can’t use it in a phone. But again, it’s hard to imagine what we will get with our next phone.
